Hourly overtime coordinators

The Parties agree to launch a program to address the Union’s concern over equalization issues which exist in some areas of the plant.

As part of this program the Company and Union agree to institute three (3) full-time Overtime Coordinator(s) to assist in the administration of the Overtime Equalization Agreement, with the understanding that monitoring overtime conditions is the primary function of the Overtime Coordinator.

12 hour coverage
Checker Cycle, Checker Receiving, Shipping, Driver Truck Semi Trailer & Cast Skin Machine Operator set-up will be added to the existing 12 hour coverage in the agreement

Restored the repair classification

The Union and the Company recognized the need to populate the Repair Classification within the assembly operations of the Saline Plant. Therefore, the Company agrees to populate the Repair Classification

Same day overtime charging
Employee’s will be charged for any overtime offered to them by the 4th hour of their regular scheduled shift. The supervisor surveying the affected employee must obtain the employee’s initials on the survey form to verify the overtime was offered. The employee shall not be charged if the documentation with the employee’s initials is not obtained. Any employee called at home who cannot be reached or declines to come in will not be charged for the overtime opportunity being offered. 

Increase gate access

The parties have agreed to the following times for gate access:

  • WEST – Open 24 Hours per day, 7 days a week
  • CENTER – Open 24 Hours per day, 5 days a week (open 10pm Sunday, close 2am Saturday)
  • EAST – Open 24 Hours per day, 5 days a week (open 10pm Sunday, close 2am Saturday)

Spindles now included work for millwrights

Repair and fabricate common racks and common carrier baskets and spindles which are used solely to transport parts from one operation to another.  

Improve process for pay shortages

The process for the issuance of a special check for employees who receive less than forty (40) hours pay during the workweek is as follows:

·         The employee immediately notifies his or her supervisor of the pay shortage.

·         The supervisor must fill out and sign a Pay Shortage Form and bring it to Labor Relations for authorization for a special check to be issued.

·         In order to allow sufficient time to process the special check, the a Pay Shortage Form must be brought to the payroll office prior to 1:00 p.m. on the Friday of the work week in which the pay shortage occurred.

·         In the event the special check cannot be processed on the Friday of the work week in which the pay shortage occurred, the special check will be issued to the employee on the next scheduled business day.

Double charges for surfers (Skilled Trades)

Any skilled tradesman who works an overtime period without being scheduled or properly notified of work shall be double charged if an employee, who has not  refused the overtime period, with fewer overtime hours has not been scheduled or properly notified of work and does not work the overtime period.  For the purpose of this provision an overtime period is defined as an employee’s assigned shift or the four hour period before or after the employee’s assigned shift.

Company will notify union of overtime deviation

When it is not feasible to schedule the low-hour shift, the superintendent or designee will notify the Union in advance of any deviation in scheduling and the reason(s) for such deviation.

Enhance emergency response plan (ERP)
The Saline Plant Joint Safety Team shall champion the process for updating the plant’s local Emergency Response Plan.  At a minimum, the ERP shall be a standing item that is reviewed on a quarterly basis at the Plant Safety Process Review Board Meeting.  Necessary updates to the plan shall be identified at that time. 

Artificial spreads recognized

It is recognized that artificial spread conditions may be created as a result of employees on military leave not being charged for overtime.  In order to address this issue, it is understood that any employees transferring into the department or bumping to that shift shall assume the highest hours within spread, provided the low-hour person was on military leave.  The spread in this case shall be calculated by forgoing the use of the military leave employee’s hours and using that of the next lowest employee’s hours.

Emergency response

Overtime incurred by employees while working in their Emergency Response Team capacity, will be charged to the home department and classification.         

Foul Weather Gear

The parties agree that each year a meeting will be held the first week of October between the Bargaining Committee and the Company to discuss and identify the needs for foul weather gear for the upcoming winter months. 

Once the employees who need the foul weather gear have been mutually agreed upon, the order for the foul weather gear will be placed within a reasonable period after the October meeting.

Employee's who have received foul weather gear within the previous twenty-four (24) months, must turn the worn foul weather gear into management, prior to receiving new foul weather gear.

OT Equalization
The overtime spread on a shift within a department and classification will be 58 hours or less. The proper method for scheduling overtime should be from low to high hours within a classification, on a shift.  In the event of a deviation from this scheduling method, the Supervisor must notify the Union in advance.

Added Parking

Security parking will be limited to a total of Five (5) reserved parking spaces to be assigned by management as appropriate.

The parties will review and discuss the layout of the Tool Room and will improve the effectiveness and flow of the work being performed.
